Whitefield was founded in the late 1800s as a settlement for the Eurasian and Anglo-Indian communities. It remained a small village until the 1990s. With the growth of the IT industry, Whitefield became a large IT hub. Today, it has one of the highest concentrations of tech parks in Bangalore. This history shows Whitefield grew within Bangalore itself and did not exist as an outside city.
